BASIC INGREDIENTS TO MAKE THE BEST SMOOTHIE
Fruit— I use mainly fruit to make smoothies. For the best tasting smoothie, fresh fruit. For the creamiest smoothie, use frozen fruit. I have shared below how you can prepare frozen fruit at home.
Plain or Greek yogurt — I always add yogurt to my smoothies, when I make it without Protein Powder. If you dont want to go for Protein powder, then you should add greek yogurt to ensure a protein-packed and creamy smoothie.
Water or milk — To help the ingredients blend, I like adding a splash of liquid to the blender. For a smoothie without milk, use water. It still tastes amazing. For more creaminess add milk (dairy or non-dairy both work).
To make the smoothie, I add everything into a blender and then blend until smooth. For an icy cold smoothie, throw in a handful of ice or use frozen fruits.
HOW TO FREEZE FRUIT FOR SMOOTHIES
For Bananas, when they are ripe, means when their skin is yellow OR when bananas are over ripe, means the outer skin is yellow and black, Then you can dice them, put them in Zip lock bag and keep in Freezer. In the same way, to keep the nutrients of fresh fruit, Simply wash them, dice them and keep in freezer in a zip lock bag.
For berries like strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries, take them out from the pack, add in water in a big bowl. Then add 1 tbsp baking soda and 1 tbsp vinegar in it and keep them for 15 min to remove all hidden pesticides on them.
For Mangoes, Simply Peel them and dice them. Put them in Zip Lock and freeze them.
These fruit need to be there for at least 12 hours to get properly freeze and then they will be ready for Smoothies. You can store them for up to 2 months and use in your Smoothies.
